No matter what the marque of the vehicle is, proper service is not optional if you want to have a long lasting reliable vehicle. This oil filter was removed from a first generation Porsche Boxster. According to the vehicle history and the lube reminder sticker this vehicle had over 20,000 miles on it since the last oil change.
Many times customers ask about their oil service intervals based on what the vehicle tells them or their owner's manual. All of our combined experience at both the dealership level and the independent repair shops is that a more realistic oil change interval with the proper full synthetic is more in the 5,000~7,500 depending on the oil being used and the type of driving. Not all oils are equal and some of the oils that can be bought at the chain stores isn't the same oils provided to the European service industry even if the brand name is the same. We carry a full line of proper oils for Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen. Our service team will gladly go over all of these items with you and match a service schedule to the use of your vehicle. Customer had a failing AOS (Air Oil Separator) and was using the vehicle on the track. Elected to have a Porsche Motorsports AOS installed. The Motorsport design is geared more for 2002 and newer engines, however we were able to make custom mounts and hoses to make it work on this 1999. Tight fit, but works like a charm.
